Video Art Project!

Video art is a type of art which relies on moving pictures and comprises video and/or audio data. Video art developed in the late 1960s mostly based on using motion. To this day video art is still being produced, it is represented by two varieties: single-channel and installation. Single-channel artworks are much closer to the conventional idea of television. For instance, a video is screened, projected or usually shown as a single image. Where the other form of video art today, installation, its artworks involve either an environment, several distinct pieces of video presented separately, or any combination of video with traditional media such as sculpture. Installation video is the most common form of video art.

My video art piece is based on Good Triumphing Evil. In mostly every comic book turned into a video theirs good and evil and if you watch you always see the good guy wins (hero) in the end. Even though my art piece was done by using clips by Marvel, there are many other movies that have the same logic like James Bond. In these movies the city or the world is always happy and safe in the end!

Gideon Obarzaneks

 

Gideon is an Australian choreographer. He pursued a career as a performer and choreographer with various dance companies and independent projects within Australia. In that time period he worked with the Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, Opera Australia, and the Netherlands Dance Theatre.

In 1995 he formed a dance company called Chunky Move. His works for Chunky Move includes stage productions, installations, site-specific works and film. Which have been performed around the world in man theaters and festivals.

Klaus Obermaier

 

 Klaus Obermaier is a media artist that creates innovative work in the area of dance, music, and theater. His performances are shown throughout Asia, Europe, Australia, and North and South America. His artworks consists of projects of interactive installations, video art, web projects, and computer music. He also worked with dancers of the Netherlands Dance Theater and composed for ensembles such as Kronos Quartet. 

Golan Levin

 

Golan Levin is a new media artist that is interested in developing artifacts and events that explore supple new models of reactive expression. He is also a composer, engineer, and a performer. Levin's work consists mostly on the design of systems for the creation, manipulation, and the performance 0f simultaneous image and sound, as part of a more general inquiry of nonverbal communication. Through his performances, Levin applies creative twist to digital technologies that highlight our relationships with machines. When it comes to interacting with one another the machine makes it visible. One of his projects I really liked was the  Dialtones: A Telesymphony, which is a concert with sounds that is choreographed of dialing and ringing of the audience's own mobile phones.

History of Magnetic Tape

 
A fun fact I never knew was that magnetic tape was first used to record computer data!

Its made out of magnetizable coating on a long strip of plastic film. Devices such as tape recorders and video recorders use magnetic tape to record audio and video footage.  Especially back than magnetic tape was used to make films, home movies, and record live on the radio.

It changed things for the better for the broadcasting network from when it started to new technologies we use now. Using magnetic tape for films was a good idea in the 50s but it did have its down sides. Everyone in the broadcasting field or made movies used that tape to store audio and video footage but they did not think about the long term. As years pass by magnetic tape deteriorates by absorption of moisture which causes extreme damage and makes it unusable.

With technology nowadays we evolved to be more digital and HI-TECH. Cameras are everywhere! Instead of tape we now use DVDs and computers to record and process movies. Looking at the inventions back than and see what we have now you'll be amazed how far we've come and how peoples ideas have generated into something bigger.

Flash Mobs

Seeing the flash mobs in class immediately made me think about this movie. I remember when I went to the movie theater to see it, i was so intrigued with this particular scene on how they made it possible.

When watching this i liked how they developed different shapes such as the peace sign and how it had meaning behind.

I like how its not just one song that there are multiple clips of a variety of songs. Its a way of showing diversity and a way for everybody to join in.
